Ann Cofta is a Queens-based multidisciplinary artist whose work incorporates hand-stitched textiles, bookmaking, and relief sculpture. Her practice often explores memory, material, and our emotional connection to familiar objects and forms.
Cofta has presented seven solo exhibitions in New York City and has participated in numerous group exhibitions locally and nationally. She has been awarded several artist residencies, including recent residencies on Governors Island with Transborder Art and ArtCrawl Harlem, as well as programs with Openings in Lake George and AlterWork Studios in Long Island City.
Her work has been featured in publications including Brooklyn Paper, Greenpointers, Queens Chronicle, New Haven Independent, and CanvasRebel Magazine. Cofta lives in Queens and maintains a studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

This exhibition brings together works from Ann Cofta’s ongoing exploration of the relationship between architecture, time, and memory. Moving across textiles, relief sculpture, and artist books, Cofta reinterprets the cityscape through a range of materials, forms, and visual approaches.
Soft patterned fabrics become clusters of buildings through hand embroidery and quilting, while sculptural smokestacks and billowing clouds take shape as solid papier-mâché reliefs. The imagery appears again in miniature painted tunnel and accordion books, where the city is compressed into intimate, unfolding structures.
Through repetition and material transformation, Cofta reflects on how familiar urban forms become embedded in memory, shifting between the architectural, the tactile, and the personal.
